Gaining real-time access from the outside of the body to biological parameters would greatly help in understanding the progression of diseases and assess degree of response to treatment. In this project, an implantable wireless platform of minimum size and featuring ultra-low power consumption is designed. This RF platform will be used to transmit biological data measured by implanted microsensors to an external base-station for additional signal processing.
Characteristics:
- Ultra-low power consumption and low supply voltage of 1-V
- Data rate ~ 1 Mb/s : Efficient modulation schemes
- Operation in the 902-928 MHz ISM band
- A minimum of 5 channels for frequency diversity
- Range of ~ 2 meter
The integer-N frequency synthesizer of the RF transceiver of the Wireless platform has been implemented using a 90-nm CMOS process and is currently under fabrication.
